“I Would Have Been a Suicide Bomber, Oil Thief if Not for Music” – Burna Boy
Nigerian Grammy winner Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has revealed how music saved him from a potentially dangerous path.
In a candid conversation with a fan, Burna Boy said, “There are many options, I could be stealing oil, I could be playing basketball, I could be a fraudster, a suicide bomber, anything including a prostitute.”
The Afro-fusion superstar continues to make waves internationally. He recently became Africa’s artist with the most entries on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, thanks to his collaboration with American rapper Gunna on the track ‘WGFT’ from Gunna’s new album, The Last Wun. The song debuted at number 96 on this week’s Hot 100, marking Burna Boy’s seventh entry.
Burna Boy is also the first African artist to debut a song on the Billboard Hot 100 in five consecutive years—2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025—further solidifying his global influence.
