“Misbehave Again, There’ll Be No Mercy” – Burna Boy Warns Speed Darlington After Release
Afrobeats star Burna Boy has issued a stern warning to rapper Speed Darlington following his release from detention after two months. Darlington was arrested in November 2024 after a feud with Burna Boy escalated over allegations involving American rapper and music executive Diddy.
Darlington had accused Burna Boy of having an inappropriate relationship with Diddy, who was facing FBI scrutiny. The conflict intensified after Darlington released a diss track titled Baby Oil and demanded an apology from Burna Boy’s mother, along with ₦12 million. His arrest came during a performance in Owerri on 27 November. Despite a court order for his release on 23 December, he remained in detention until Tuesday.
Following his release, Burna Boy responded on Instagram, saying, “If you misbehave again, you’ll go back to where you came from! And this time around, there will be no mercy! Don’t mess with ODG.”
Darlington’s lawyer, Stanley Alieke, confirmed the rapper’s release on Instagram, sharing photos of his new look. He described Darlington’s detention as illegal and pledged to seek justice for his client, citing human rights violations by the Nigerian police.
Legal battles continue for Darlington. His trial is set for 18 March, while a separate ₦300 million lawsuit against the Inspector-General of Police is scheduled for hearing on 27 January.
