“I Will Never Go to an Embassy Run by Reno Omokri” — Charly Boy Slams Ambassadorial Nomination
Legendary musician and socialite Charly Boy has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu’s nomination of Reno Omokri for an ambassadorial post, questioning the impact on national unity. Speaking in pidgin English, Charly Boy declared, “Nigeria don Sawa,” expressing his frustration with the country’s leadership.
The Imo-born entertainer described Omokri as a “clown” and a “bigot,” saying it was shocking that the president could forward his name to the Senate for confirmation despite recent statements against the Igbo community. “With the volume of bigotry against the Igbo that Reno Omokri has vomited in the last few months, how can anyone who cares about national unity make the clown an Ambassador?” he asked.
Charly Boy went further, suggesting that the nomination seemed to endorse Omokri’s divisive rhetoric. “Perhaps Tinubu endorses the filth that issues from Reno’s mouth,” he said in a post on X. He described the move as “a spectacular mockery of this country” and “a continental joke,” questioning how any Igbo citizen could approach an embassy under Omokri’s leadership with pride or a sense of belonging.
The socialite also criticized the president, saying, “Tinubu’s such a let down. Why wash our national dirty linens in public? Reno is such filthy underwear. Tinubu ought to have compensated him with some backyard job, but again who knows.” He added, “Ambassador Reno…Tufiakwa! [God forbid]! I will never go that embassy.”
