“I Remain the Authentic Edo Deputy Governor” — Omobayo
Engr. Marvellous Godwins Omobayo has reaffirmed his position as the authentic Deputy Governor of Edo State, maintaining that he continues to fulfill his official duties as outlined by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Omobayo made this declaration during a solidarity visit from the leadership and members of the three major transport unions in Edo State, namely the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), and the Edo State Drivers Welfare Scheme.
Despite ongoing legal disputes surrounding the Office of the Deputy Governor, Omobayo emphasized that he remains undeterred and fully committed to his role, focusing on supporting Governor Godwin Obaseki in driving economic prosperity and transformation in Edo State.
He expressed his gratitude to the unions for their steadfast support since his assumption of office and commended their unwavering loyalty to Governor Obaseki.
Speaking during the visit, Comrade Monday Orhue, Chairman of RTEAN, and Chief Odion Olaye, Chairman of NURTW, reiterated their organizations’ full support for Governor Obaseki. They also passed a vote of confidence on Omobayo, affirming him as the legitimate and recognized Deputy Governor of Edo State.
Chief Olaye further expressed optimism that the Obaseki-led administration would conclude its tenure successfully and leave a lasting legacy of positive change in Edo State.
