“I Don’t Like Wike, But He’s a Genius” – Dele Farotimi

 

Human rights lawyer and activist, Dele Farotimi, has described former Rivers State governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as a political “genius,” despite making clear his personal dislike for him.

 

Writing on X on Wednesday, Farotimi said Wike showed rare skill in political recruitment by backing Siminalayi Fubara as his successor, even though he sharply criticized Fubara’s performance in office.

 

“You should applaud Wike’s recruitment genius, not question the Ijaw’s historic record of bravery. I don’t like Wike, there’s absolutely nothing to emulate or to eulogize in him, BUT on this matter of the Simpleton known as Fubara, I am persuaded to acknowledge his genius,” Farotimi posted.

 

Wike and Governor Fubara have been at the center of a prolonged political feud since Fubara assumed office, a clash that escalated to the point of a state of emergency being declared in Rivers State. The move saw Fubara and his deputy suspended for six months.

 

President Bola Tinubu lifted the emergency rule last week, paving the way for Fubara’s reinstatement as governor.
