Husband of Woman Allegedly Caught with Suspended Jigawa Commissioner Files Adultery Suit in Sharia Court

Alhaji Nasiru Buba, the husband of the woman allegedly caught with the Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwalu Danladi Sankara, has filed an adultery suit at the Kano Upper Shari’a Court 1, Kofar Kudu. The court, led by Ustaz Ibrahim Sarki Yola, is set to begin hearings on Tuesday.

The case involves allegations of an illicit affair between Sankara and Tasleem Baba Nabegu, the wife of the complainant and mother of two children. Nasiru Buba filed a direct criminal complaint, accusing the pair of engaging in an improper relationship, which violates Islamic law.

The controversy first surfaced last week when the Kano State Hisbah Board arrested Sankara and Tasleem in an uncompleted building owned by the commissioner in Nassarawa GRA, Kano. Following the arrest, Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi suspended Sankara and appointed a five-member committee to investigate the matter, which has caused embarrassment to the state government.

Speaking on the case, Barrister Sa’idu Muhammad Tudu Wada, representing Nasiru Buba, stated that his client is seeking a full investigation into the alleged affair. “Our client wants the court to examine the relationship between his wife and the defendant for potential criminal prosecution,” said Wada.

On the other hand, Sankara’s lawyer, Barrister Shehu Sadam Suleiman, denied the allegations, asserting that his client had been wrongly implicated. Suleiman emphasized that the case is a direct criminal complaint filed by the complainant, not an action initiated by the Hisbah Board, as some reports have suggested. “Our client is innocent and looks forward to clearing his name in court,” Suleiman stated.

The hearing is scheduled to begin on Tuesday as both sides prepare to present their arguments in what has become a highly publicized case.
