How Police Recovered AK-47 Rifle in Uncompleted Anambra Apartment
Police in Anambra State have recovered an abandoned AK-47 rifle from a residential apartment undergoing renovation in Ihuowele Ngo Village, Igboukwu, Aguata Local Government Area. The recovery, which took place on Friday, followed a tip-off from residents, according to state police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga.
Investigations suggest the rifle may belong to a man identified as Samson, described by authorities as a notorious figure and former occupant of the building. Samson has reportedly not been seen in the area since June 2024, and efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend him.
Ikenga stated that the weapon was recovered around 12:30 p.m. on July 11, 2025. Commending the local community for their alertness, Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu praised the growing partnership between residents and law enforcement. He urged the public to continue providing timely and actionable information to support police efforts in protecting lives and property.
