How Ondo CEO Was Murdered by Domestic Staff Over N150,000 – Police Narrate Shocking Details

The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Abayomi Oladipo, has provided a detailed account of the shocking murder of Mrs. Debbie Adene, the CEO of Kitchen County, allegedly orchestrated by her domestic staff. The suspects, including a 17-year-old employee and her driver, conspired to kill her over a sum of N150,000.

Speaking on the incident for the first time, Commissioner Oladipo narrated how Mrs. Adene’s body was discovered mutilated in her residence on Oda Road, Akure. The discovery came after neighbors reported a foul odour emanating from her apartment, prompting a police response on July 28, 2024.

Two of the three suspects, including 17-year-old Philip Emmanuel, who worked as Mrs. Adene’s cook, have been apprehended, while the driver remains on the run. The arrests were made after detectives tracked the victim’s stolen phones, leading to one suspect in Idanre and the other in Akure.

In his confession, Philip Emmanuel revealed that the plot to kill Mrs. Adene was initiated by her driver, Precious, who had only been employed for two months. Precious allegedly overheard that N150,000 had been deposited into her account and convinced Emmanuel to kill her and steal the money.

According to Emmanuel, the crime was carried out on July 25, 2024. The driver provided him with a drink before coercing him into attacking Mrs. Adene with a cutlass. After the murder, they discovered only N60,000 in her account, which they split between them before fleeing.

Emmanuel’s confession came after police questioned him about his communication with the driver, leading him to admit his involvement in the crime.

Commissioner Oladipo condemned the senseless murder and emphasized the need for caution when discussing financial matters in the presence of employees. The police are continuing their efforts to track down the fugitive driver and bring him to justice.
