How a Newborn Baby Mysteriously Disappeared from Ekiti Health Centre
Tension has gripped the Okeyimi Health Centre in Ado Ekiti after a newborn baby, less than 24 hours old, mysteriously disappeared from the facility in the early hours of Monday. The incident unfolded when healthcare workers on duty attempted to attend to the baby, only to find she was missing.
The disappearance threw the hospital into turmoil, leaving the infant’s mother, relatives, patients, and staff in shock and confusion. According to sources at the health centre, the mother and several hospital staff members, including a security guard, were taken into custody for questioning as part of the preliminary investigation.
Efforts to reach the hospital management for an official response have so far been unsuccessful.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ekiti State Police Command, SP Sunday Abutu, said that four suspects have been arrested in connection with the case. He added that the State Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, has ordered a full-scale investigation, now being handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department.
“The Commissioner of Police has directed the State CID to thoroughly investigate the case and ensure that the missing baby is found,” SP Abutu stated. “So far, four persons have been arrested and are currently providing useful information to assist in our ongoing investigation.”
