Court Remands 45-Year-Old Suspect in Alleged Murder Case
An Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court has issued an order for the remand of a 45-year-old man, Tajudeen Olaleye, at the correctional centre in Ado-Ekiti over allegations of murder.
The court session, which took place on Thursday, heard from the police prosecutor, Inspector Yomi Osuolale, who presented the case against the defendant. According to Inspector Osuolale, the incident occurred on March 10 in Otun-Ekiti.
The prosecutor alleged that Tajudeen Olaleye was involved in a physical altercation with an individual in the neighborhood. Mrs. Rasaki Taibat, the deceased, intervened in an attempt to mediate between the two parties. Tragically, during the altercation, Tajudeen Olaleye allegedly stabbed Mrs. Taibat with a bottle, resulting in her untimely demise.
The prosecutor highlighted that this action violated Section 234 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2012, and urged the court to remand the defendant in the correctional centre pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
In response, the magistrate, Mrs. Olubunmi Bamidele, ordered the remand of the defendant at the correctional centre until legal advice is issued. The case has been adjourned until April 25 for further mention.
