Health Advisory for AFCON Finals: Nigerian Doctors Urge Caution for Fans with Hypertension

In anticipation of the highly anticipated Africa Nations Cup final clash between Nigeria and Ivory Coast this Sunday, the Association of Nigerian Private Medical Practitioners has issued a cautionary statement for fans with hypertension and other heart-related conditions.

In a widely circulated video on Saturday, the medical association expressed concerns about the potential health hazards associated with the AFCON finals, describing it as a thrilling encounter. The advisory suggested that individuals unable to engage in alternative activities during the match should consider taking sleeping pills to mitigate the tension.

Following the semi-final match between Nigeria and South Africa, where at least five Nigerian fans reportedly lost their lives, the association emphasized the need for heightened caution during the upcoming final. Urging fans with hypertension and heart-related issues to watch the game responsibly, the statement reminded the public of the unpredictable nature of the event.

“The Association of the Nigerian Private Medical Practitioners cautions Nigerians with hypertension and other heart-related issues to approach the AFCON finals with utmost care. Given the health risks observed during the semi-finals, we advise viewers to exercise caution during this thrilling final match. For those unable to occupy their time with other activities, taking a sleeping pill is recommended to alleviate the associated tension. Remember your loved ones, and regardless of the outcome, life must continue,” the advisory stated.

Nigeria and Ivory Coast are set to compete for the coveted cash prize of $7 million at 9:00 pm Nigerian time on Sunday.
