Gunmen Strike Again at Rivers APP Secretariat, Security Guard Injured
Gunmen have reportedly shot a security guard stationed at the Action People’s Party (APP) secretariat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The attack occurred at midnight, marking the second assault on the party’s headquarters in less than a month, following a bombing at the same location in the New GRA area.
The APP’s state chairman, Sunny Wokekoro, addressed the media on Wednesday from the scene of the attack, stating that details surrounding the shooting remain unclear. The injured guard is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital. However, hospital staff declined to allow journalists to speak with the victim.
Wokekoro expressed deep concern about the police’s ability to identify those responsible for the recent attack, noting that law enforcement officers deployed after the bombing have yet to provide any updates. The APP chairman assured the public that these incidents would not deter the party from participating in the upcoming local government elections scheduled for next month.
