Gunmen Abduct Pastor, Church Member in Kogi State
Gunmen have abducted the pastor of the Christian Evangelical Fellowship of Nigeria (CEFN), Pastor Friday Adehi, along with a church member, Brother Gabriel Ezekiel, in Kogi State. The incident occurred on Sunday, August 24, 2025, shortly after the duo attended a church service and later a naming ceremony for a fellow member.
Reports indicate that the victims were travelling on a motorcycle along the Ajegwu-Ojodu road in Ofu Local Government Area when they were ambushed. According to eyewitness accounts, the kidnappers, who had been lying in wait, stopped the clergyman and his companions at gunpoint and forced them into the bush between 3 and 4 p.m.
Local vigilantes working with the military have since launched a search operation to track down the abductors. In response to the rising cases of abductions, members of the community are clearing bushes along the Itobe-Anyigba road to reduce the cover used by criminals. The project is being supported by contributions from residents and philanthropists, including Dr. Simeon Oyigu.
Meanwhile, members of the CEFN Church have begun a period of prayer and fasting, calling for divine intervention in securing the safe release of Pastor Adehi and Brother Ezekiel.
