Governor Soludo Promises a Safe, Festive Christmas for Anambra Residents

Anambra State residents can look forward to a safe and joyful Christmas season, according to Law Mefor, Anambra’s Commissioner for Information. In a recent interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka, Mefor assured the public that Governor Charles Soludo’s administration is prioritizing security and road improvements to ensure a smooth holiday experience for all.

Governor Soludo’s government is reportedly “working tirelessly” to enhance safety and address road conditions to make travel easier during the festive season. Mefor emphasized that recent reports on insecurity in the state have been overstated, noting that Anambra remains one of the country’s safest regions, despite isolated cases of cult-related clashes.

“The insecurity in Anambra has multiple dimensions,” Mefor stated, pointing out that issues with cultism represent internal conflicts between outlawed groups rather than a direct threat to the general public. “Our security forces are actively collaborating with the Anambra government to de-escalate and eliminate all forms of insecurity,” he added.

In addition to bolstering security, the Anambra government is undertaking extensive road rehabilitation projects across the state. These improvements aim to facilitate smoother traffic flow and ensure residents and visitors experience a comfortable journey through the holiday period.

Mefor also encouraged Anambra natives living abroad to visit home for the holidays and witness firsthand the positive developments in the state. He urged the media to support constructive reporting, highlighting the state’s progress without sacrificing their critical role as the public’s watchdog.

He concluded with a firm statement: “Anambra is our home, and we cannot abandon it to criminals; we will not. The Soludo administration is committed to providing our people with a safe and comfortable environment to celebrate Christmas and New Year.”
