Gov Fubara’s Chief of Staff Unveils Root Cause of Rivers State Political Crisis
Edison Ehie, Chief of Staff to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, sheds light on the ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State, attributing it to the contentious issue of resource control. Speaking at a thanksgiving service commemorating Governor Fubara’s recent Supreme Court victory in Ahoada East Local Government Area, Ehie highlighted the genesis of the rift between his principal and former Governor Nyesom Wike.
According to Ehie, the core issue in Rivers State revolves around a select group of political leaders vying for exclusive control over the state’s resources. He emphasized that this group, initially consisting of 11 individuals, later expanded to include 20 others, all aiming to monopolize the allocation of resources for personal gain.
The atmosphere in Ahoada East Local Government Area was one of jubilation as residents celebrated Governor Fubara’s legal triumph. The festivities, hosted at Western County High School Ahoada, featured religious ceremonies followed by political discussions, where community leaders, women, youth groups, and political allies rallied in support of Governor Fubara.
State lawmakers aligned with Governor Fubara, led by Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo, reaffirmed their commitment to his leadership. Ehie, representing the governor, underscored Fubara’s determination to navigate the political landscape, despite his youthfulness, asserting that he possesses the acumen to outmaneuver his adversaries.
The highlight of the event was the distribution of financial support to small-scale business owners and coordinators of the Simplified Movement, with each recipient receiving substantial grants. Governor Fubara’s administration appears resolute in its pursuit of political stability and economic empowerment, as it seeks to address the underlying issues fueling the state’s political unrest.
