Wike: ‘I Made a Mistake, But We Will Correct It,’ Vows Minister Amidst Political Turmoil

 

The Minister of the Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, publicly admitted to misjudging Governor Siminalayi Fubara, declaring his intention to rectify the error in due course.

During a grand Civic reception in honor of Chief George Thompson Sekibo, commemorating his 20 years of national service and 36 years in public service, Wike addressed the ongoing political crisis within the state, particularly in response to actions from Fubara’s camp.

Wike’s candid admission of error was a central point of his speech. He urged forgiveness from the people of the Local Government Area (LGA) and his political allies, affirming his humanity and fallibility. He pledged to rectify the mistake in due time, emphasizing his commitment to upholding the rule of law despite any attempts to obstruct it.

Addressing Fubara’s recent remarks regarding worship, Wike clarified that he never demanded worship from anyone, highlighting the importance of gratitude and respect in public service. He also reassured lawmakers of their security, urging them not to succumb to fear.

Wike’s speech reflected on his administration’s achievements and the challenges faced, urging his supporters to remain steadfast in the pursuit of peace and adherence to due process. He criticized attempts to discredit his legacy and reaffirmed his dedication to serving the people.

In a passionate appeal to his constituents, Wike emphasized the need for unity and resilience against divisive tactics, promising to confront detractors head-on. He vowed to continue championing the cause of the people, undeterred by political adversaries.
