Gov Fubara May Emerge 2027 Consensus Candidate,” Warns APC Member

In a recent statement, Sir Joe Korka-Waadah, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, revealed ongoing plans to adopt Governor Siminalayi Fubara as the consensus candidate for re-election in the 2027 poll.

Korka-Waadah highlighted growing concerns over the political conduct of former Governor Nyesom Wike, suggesting that it has catalyzed the formation of a new political movement in Rivers State. “Due to the litany of political missteps of Nyesom Wike, a new political movement has emerged in Rivers State,” he remarked. He emphasized that Wike’s overbearing attitude has prompted a unification among various political factions.

He further explained that stakeholders from different political backgrounds have reconciled and are now working together to challenge the established political hegemony in the state. “Reconciliation has taken place among former political enemies in the state. Even those who were lapsed politically are now at the forefront of this battle to save the state from the grip of a known and established hegemon,” Korka-Waadah added.

According to Korka-Waadah, there is a strong possibility that Rivers State might see a single, unopposed governorship candidate in 2027, with most political parties potentially consolidating their structures. “Governor Sim Fubara would likely be the candidate that would stand unopposed in 2027 from the way things are going,” he stated.

Praising Fubara’s leadership, Korka-Waadah noted his tact, humility, and effective management. “From his policies, prudent, selfless, and transparent management of the commonwealth, and respect for even development of Rivers State in the choice and spread of milestone projects, Fubara is proving to be that governor for all Rivers State has never had in the past eight years,” he said.

Amidst ongoing consultations and debates aimed at unifying political interests, Korka-Waadah emphasized the emerging consensus around Fubara’s candidacy. He concluded with a call to end the longstanding political manipulation in Rivers State, asserting, “For too long, Rivers, our state has suffered as the common conduit powers brokers of national politics feast on to filter away our enviable resources while perpetually dividing us. The time to end that narrative is here. Enough is enough.”
