Fubara Presents Certificates of Recognition to Asari-Dokubo, Three Others
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has presented Certificates of Recognition and Staff of Office to Alhaji Mujahid Asari-Dokubo and three others, officially affirming their roles as traditional rulers in their respective communities.
Asari-Dokubo, a prominent Niger Delta freedom fighter, was recognized as His Royal Highness, the Amanyanabo of Torusarama Piri in Degema Local Government Area. Other recipients include His Royal Majesty Winston Odize Alamina Oputibeya XII, the Amanyanabo of Koniju in Okrika Local Government Area; His Royal Majesty Eze Noble Friday Uwoh (CSP rtd), Eze Igbu-Ehuda (Ahoada) IV in Ahoada-East Local Government Area; and His Royal Highness Prince Ike Ehie, Eze Igbu Orilukwoe in Ahoada-East Local Government Area.
Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Governor Fubara urged the newly recognized monarchs to use their positions to promote peace and ensure the protection of lives and property in their domains. He emphasized that the recognition was a call to service and responsibility, rather than an avenue for personal gain.
“Let me first of all, on behalf of the government, congratulate the four of you. It has not been an easy journey to get to this point,” Fubara said. “Your appointment in terms of this recognition is not for personal aggrandizement, but a call for service, a responsibility to help us protect lives and property in your domains.”
Fubara reminded the traditional rulers of the government’s power to revoke such recognitions if misused but expressed hope that such measures would not be necessary. He appealed to them to support the administration’s efforts to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
“I don’t want you to see this elevation as another platform to create problems in your locality,” the governor added. “We have the power to still withdraw the recognition, but I don’t intend to do that. So, I want you to be partners with the government to ensure that we continue to succeed.”
The governor expressed confidence in their integrity and urged them to prioritize the welfare of their people while working collaboratively with the government to ensure progress and stability in their respective communities.
