Five Police Officers Returning from Edo Election Duty Die in Kano Road Accident, 11 Injured
Five Nigerian police officers have tragically lost their lives in a road accident in Karfi town, Kura Local Government Area of Kano State, while returning from election duty in Edo State. The officers were part of a security team deployed for the governorship election held in Edo on Saturday, September 21.
According to the Kano State Police Command, the officers were on their way back to Kano after completing their official assignment when their vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with a trailer in Karfi, a few kilometers from Kano.
Police spokesperson Abdullahi Kiyawa confirmed the details of the accident on Tuesday. “Five officers died on the spot, and 11 others sustained injuries. They were immediately taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, where they are receiving medical care,” Kiyawa said.
