Five Kidnapped Corps Members Freed in Ondo State After Ransom Payment
Five corps members abducted last Friday have been released after a ransom of N5 million was paid. A family member of one of the victims revealed that N1 million was paid per person to secure their freedom.
SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the Police Public Relations Officer for Ondo State, confirmed the release, stating, “The Command has found the victims of the Ose/Ifon area kidnapping that occurred on July 18, 2024. The victims were abandoned by their assailants due to the police’s mounting pressure.”
The successful operation involved the Tactical Squad, led by ACP Olufemi Awoyale, Area Commander of Owo. “Continuous combing of the bush and sustained technical support forced the kidnappers to abandon the victims at Oyinbo/Sanusi Camp,” said Odunlami-Omisanya.
The released victims are currently receiving care at the Police Medical Services in Owo and will be reunited with their families after debriefing.
