Female Herbalist Arrested for Killing Three Over Witchcraft Accusations
The Adamawa State Police Command has detained a 30-year-old female herbalist, Salestina Bala, in connection with the deaths of three individuals allegedly accused of witchcraft.
Salestina, from Kwa village in Lamurde Local Government Area, is accused of collaborating with others to torture and kill Lazarus Bashiru, Galion Isa, and Ajasko Yakubu, whom they believed to be witches.
According to a statement by the police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the arrest was made on September 14, 2024, by officers from the Tigno Divisional headquarters. The police were initially alerted by Dogara Sabon Reza and Jeri Dogara, who reported that Salestina and her accomplices subjected the victims to a brutal trial by ordeal.
Commissioner of Police Moris Dankwambo has announced that Salestina will face charges in court once the investigation concludes.
