Deadly ISWAP Raid: Nigerian Army Camp in Adamawa Overrun, Soldiers Killed
Fighters believed to be from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have attacked the Garahamojili military camp in Adamawa State, killing at least two soldiers.
Sources reported that the assault occurred on Sunday and involved a 20-minute gunfight before the insurgents overran the position. The attackers reportedly set parts of the camp on fire, destroying structures and three military vehicles. Weapons and ammunition were also reportedly taken before the fighters withdrew to unknown locations.
The exact number of soldiers injured in the attack has not been confirmed, and the Nigerian military has yet to release an official statement.
Adamawa, which borders Borno State—the center of ongoing insurgency activity—has experienced sporadic attacks in recent months.
