FCT Police Disperse Peaceful Protesters with Tear Gas in Berger
On Friday morning, a contingent of heavily armed Nigerian Police officers forcefully dispersed a group of peaceful protesters near the Berger bridge in Abuja.
Eyewitnesses, including passers-by and motorists, voiced their outrage, accusing the police of excessive force and high-handedness.
This incident comes after an Abuja high court issued an injunction restricting protesters to the MKO Abiola National Stadium. Federal Capital Territory Minister, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, urged compliance with the court order on Thursday night. However, protest leaders claim they had not been formally served with the injunction.
