FBI, Ghana’s EOCO Seize Shatta Wale’s Lamborghini Over $4.7 Million US Fraud Case
Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has had his luxury vehicle seized as part of an international fraud investigation involving U.S. authorities. The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), working in collaboration with the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the U.S. Justice Department, confiscated a 2019 Lamborghini Urus from the musician’s residence in Trassaco Valley Phase 1, Accra.
In an official statement issued by EOCO’s acting Executive Director, Raymond Archer, the agency confirmed that the seizure followed a 2023 request from American authorities. The operation, conducted in June 2025 by EOCO’s Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU), was part of efforts to recover assets tied to the proceeds of financial crimes committed by Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently serving an 86-month sentence in the United States.
The Lamborghini, found in the possession of Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., known publicly as Shatta Wale, was voluntarily surrendered by the artist. According to EOCO, Shatta Wale requested a discreet operation to avoid public embarrassment, citing the vehicle’s significance to his brand image. Officers allowed him to hand over the vehicle without incident, describing the seizure as professional and civil.
EOCO clarified that officers were armed during the operation as part of standard safety procedures. The agency added that the Lamborghini is linked to the \$4.74 million restitution Amuah owes U.S. authorities and is expected to be repatriated to the United States.
Shatta Wale, along with a former senior officer of Ghana’s National Signal Bureau (NSB), has been identified as a person of interest in the ongoing investigation and will be invited to assist EOCO in the coming days. The agency also noted that it may share its final report with the FBI and U.S. Justice Department as part of their continued cooperation.
