Nigerian Extradited to U.S. Over Sexual Extortion Case Linked to Teen Death in Pennsylvania

A 26-year-old Nigerian, Afeez Olatunji Adewale, has been extradited to the United States to face federal charges in connection with a sexual extortion scheme that authorities say contributed to the death of a Pennsylvania teenager.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania confirmed that Adewale was brought to the U.S. from Nigeria on February 13, 2026. His arrest in Nigeria in August 2023 was part of a wider FBI operation targeting individuals allegedly involved in sexually exploiting minors.

Federal prosecutors have indicted Adewale on charges of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Lynne A. Sitarski in Philadelphia on Monday.

Authorities said his arrest and extradition involved coordination between the FBI and Nigerian security agencies. Key Nigerian partners included the Office of the Attorney General, the Federal Ministry of Justice’s International Criminal Justice Cooperation Department, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs and FBI personnel also played central roles in his transfer.

Adewale is the third Nigerian linked to this case. Two co-defendants, Imoleayo Samuel Aina, also known as “Alice Dave,” and Samuel Olasunkanmi Abiodun, were extradited in August 2024. Abiodun pleaded guilty to conspiracy and wire fraud, receiving a five-year prison sentence in June 2025. Aina later pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including cyberstalking and money laundering, and was sentenced to six years in October 2025.

The investigation was led by the FBI’s Philadelphia Field Office, in collaboration with the Abington Township Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Brown is prosecuting the case.

U.S. authorities stressed that Adewale is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
