Enugu State has unveiled a new tax regime for 2025, with significant levies for commercial operators across various sectors. Under the new system, commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as “Okada” riders, will pay N146,000 annually, while taxi drivers face N164,250.

Market traders, including water vendors and petite traders operating street shops, will pay N36,000 annually. Tricycle operators will be taxed N200,750, mini bus operators N219,000, and larger vehicles such as 14-seaters and pickup vans N237,250.

Larger vehicles face steeper taxes, with Sienna and water tanker drivers paying N237,250 and N346,750 respectively. Trucks with 6-10 tyres will be taxed N985,500, while trailers without goods will pay N1,204,500. Trailers carrying produce face the highest levy of N1,642,500 annually.

The taxes will be collected daily via an electronic ticketing system. Okada riders will pay N400 daily, taxi drivers N450, and tricycle operators N550.
