Enugu: Peter Obi’s Former Campaign Coordinator Returns to PDP

Titus Odo, the Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party (LP) in Enugu, and Emeka Mamah, former Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs and the state coordinator of Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign, have defected from the Labour Party to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The two politicians had previously left the PDP during the 2023 general elections to join the Labour Party but have now returned to their former party.

Their defection was formally received at the PDP state secretariat in Enugu, where the state party chairman, Martin Chukwunwike, welcomed them with optimism. Chukwunwike stated that the party was following Governor Peter Mbah’s directive to reconcile with aggrieved members and bring them back into the fold. He expressed confidence in the party’s future, saying, “We are happy to have them in our midst, and God has set this party on a good foot, as 2027 is already assured.”

During the event, Odo expressed satisfaction with his return to the PDP, attributing his decision to the developmental strides of Governor Mbah. He also cited the defection of his former boss, LP’s 2023 governorship candidate Dr. Chijioke Edeoga, and the transformation of Igboeze North under council chairman Uchenna Ogara as key motivations.

Mamah also thanked the PDP leadership at various levels for receiving him, commending the governor’s performance and his efforts to unify the party.
