Enugu Massacre Convict’s Shocking Confession: Inside the Mind of a Killer

Mohamed Zurai, the only person found guilty for the gruesome massacre that shook Nimbo, Enugu State, in April 2016, has stepped forward with a confession. Zurai, a herdsman, admitted to being part of the tragic events but claims he only recorded the killings on his phone and didn’t actively take part in them.

Speaking secretly to Sunday Vanguard from prison, where he awaits his fate, Zurai revealed that the massacre was triggered by the beheading of an Alhaji in the Enugu community. This sheds light on the dark reasons behind the horrifying incident that claimed the lives of over 40 people.

Convicted by Justice Anthony Onovo in May 2023 based on evidence from his phone, Zurai insists he didn’t directly kill anyone but simply filmed the violence unfolding. Desperate for legal help to appeal his death sentence, Zurai’s plea highlights the urgent need for a fair trial and proper representation to ensure justice is served.

In a separate development, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has distanced itself from a recent attack on the Nimbo community in April 2024. This attack left four dead and many injured, sparking outrage and condemnation from Governor Peter Mbah.

MACBAN’s denial adds another layer of complexity to the already tense situation, as authorities grapple with maintaining peace and security in the state.
