Elon Musk Denies $45 Million Monthly Donation to Pro-Trump PAC

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has denied reports suggesting he would donate $45 million monthly to a super political action committee (PAC) supporting Donald Trump.

During an interview with conservative commentator Jordan Peterson on Monday, Musk firmly stated, “What’s been reported in the media is simply not true. I am not donating $45 million a month to Trump.” This clarification comes as a significant setback for Trump’s campaign finances, which were expected to benefit greatly from Musk’s alleged contributions.

Musk further addressed the issue on his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), on Wednesday, saying, “I am making some donations to America PAC, but at a much lower level. The key values of the PAC are supporting a meritocracy and individual freedom. Republicans are mostly, but not entirely, on the side of merit and freedom.”

Despite previously declaring his intention to avoid involvement in the 2024 election, Musk recently endorsed Trump following an assassination attempt on the former president. “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery,” Musk wrote on X, sharing a video of Trump showing resilience after the attack.

America PAC, which has attracted donations from several tech industry leaders such as Ken Howery, Antonio Gracias, Sequoia Capital’s Shuan Maguire, and the Winklevoss twins, is led by Joe Lonsdale, co-founder of Palantir and a close associate of Musk. While endorsing Trump, Musk emphasized that America PAC aims to be nonpartisan and distinct from the “MAGA” movement, advocating for the slogan ‘Make America Greater’ to reflect core American values.
