EDO ELECTIONS: Lagos PDP congratulates Godwin Obaseki in advance while also putting records straight.

In a statement released by the Press Secretary to the state Chairman, The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Lagos Chapter have stated that they have scrutinised the statement released on behalf of the All Progressive Congress (APC) by John Mayaki, the Chairman Edo State APC Media Campaign Council and wish to put the records straight.

Mayaki in his statement said that in the Edo elections there were ‘incidences of shooting, harassment, intimidation of both voters and INEC officials/adhoc staff as well as snatching of ballot boxes characterised by wanton disrespect for all that make an election valuable.”

The statement read “The People’s Democratic Party in Lagos State wish to state that all the aforementioned are attributes of the All Progressive Congress (APC).”

“Suffice to state that elections held nationwide in 2015 and 2019 clearly indicated that all these vices as postulated by Mayaki are all APC’s stock in trade.”

“We however wish to sound a note of warning that all these old fashioned Distractive and Negative tactics would no longer be tolerated in Lagos State as they have been rejected in Edo State.”

“Furthermore, we wish to sound it clear that all these gimmicks of placating falsehood when you lose elections are unethical , unacceptable, Diversionary and Undemocratic , Nigerians know that It is a ploy by the APC to try to upturn results of free and fair elections, using the Judiciary.”

“We can easily predict that the APC will definitely head to court as that is always their next line of action when things don’t go their way.”

“The Edo people have seen who and what the APC is made of and have consequently reacted through their votes.”

“We however advice the APC to stop creating falsehood just because they think they have the Federal Government apparatus at their disposal.”

The statement further went on to state that “The People’s Democratic Party in Lagos State are watching the turn of events closely in view of the fact that we would be going into an election come 31st October, 2020.”

“Based on all these accusations and pronouncement by APC as regards the Edo Elections, we are preempting and expecting the same kind of attitude by the APC in Lagos State.”

“It is however noteworthy to state that the Lagos State APC have always rigged elections and are noted for all the vices as stated by Mayaki, coupled with the usage of the state apparatus to harass, intimidate, with a view to undermining the activities of our loyal party members while politicking during various elections.”

“We further wish to advice that all these evil dealings by APC in Lagos State , should stop forthwith as they are only capable of destroying our democracy and have the propensity to set our dear State and country into chaos.”

“Once again, we clearly state that the early results as being witnessed in the Edo Elections is a clear indication that the electorate are fed up of the falsehoods of APC and have clearly rejected APC in Edo State and this is expected to also evolve in the forthcoming Gubernatorial elections in Ondo, the bye elections in Lagos State and also consequently nationwide come 2023.”

“Having been monitoring the election results up to this point, it is evidently clear that Governor Godwin Obaseki has an unassailable lead and is coasting home to victory.”

“We thus wish to congratulate His Excellency, the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki for this mean feat.’

“We also congratulate the good people of Edo State for this stand out show of rejecting impunity.”

“In concluding, we in the People’s Democratic Party in Lagos State however remain resolute and would henceforth not fall for all these foul play as perpetrated by APC.”
