Drunk Driver Kills Teenage Hawker In Ondo
A teenage hawker, Bassey Edet, was killed over the weekend when a car rammed into a motor park in Odigbo Local Council Area of Ondo State.
It was gathered that the victim was hawking puff-puff and buns at the park before the car, allegedly driven by a drunk driver, knocked him down.
According to sources, Edet died on the spot, with the yet-to-be-identified driver said to be driving a Toyota Picnic bus with number plate EPE 576DC.
The accident, which happened along the ever-busy Odigbo-Ore road, threw the foster parents of the teenager and people around the area into mourning.
One of the sources said: “The driver drove on top speed and rammed into a garage and killed a teenager, identified as Bassey Edet.”
The presence of security operatives at the scene calmed frayed nerves at the scene of the accident as they prevented the situation from escalating into jungle justice.
The driver of the vehicle was said to have been arrested by the police, while the damaged vehicle and a motorcycle that was affected in the accident were towed to the police station.
Also, the teenager’s remains have been deposited at the morgue in Ore.
