Drama in NASS as Lawmakers Disrupt Rendition of Tinubu’s Anthem During 2025 Budget Presentation
A heated scene unfolded at the National Assembly on Wednesday during President Bola Tinubu’s presentation of the 2025 budget. The session, which brought together members of the Senate and House of Representatives, took an unexpected turn when some lawmakers attempted to sing the President’s anthem, On Your Mandate We Shall Stand.
The incident occurred moments after the opening prayer that marked the start of the joint session. As the anthem began, it was met with resistance from other members, leading to uproar within the chamber.
The disruption forced an abrupt halt to the singing, prompting Senate President Godswill Akpabio to intervene. Without addressing the fracas, he swiftly moved on with the agenda, delivering his opening speech for the budget presentation.
The session proceeded without further interruptions.
