“You’re All Re-Elected” – Tinubu Tells Lawmakers During 2025 Budget Presentation
President Bola Tinubu added a touch of humor to the formal proceedings of the National Assembly on Wednesday during his presentation of the 2025 budget. The President mistakenly referred to the 10th Senate as the 11th but quickly turned the error into a lighthearted moment, telling lawmakers, “I wrote 11th, which means you’re all re-elected.” His remarks were met with laughter and applause, creating a relaxed atmosphere during the event.
Tinubu, who arrived at the National Assembly at 12:14 p.m., was warmly received by lawmakers and top government officials. He formally presented the ₦47.96 trillion budget proposal, which outlines expenditure priorities for 2025. In his address, the President emphasized his commitment to rebuilding Nigeria and steering the nation toward a prosperous future.
“In fulfilment of one of my constitutional duties and with an unyielding commitment to rebuilding Nigeria towards ensuring that we remain steadfast on a journey to a prosperous future, I hereby present the 2025 budget to the joint session of the National Assembly,” Tinubu stated.
The proposed budget, which highlights key allocations, will now move to the deliberation stage as lawmakers assess its implications for the nation.
