“Don’t Use Your Money to Scatter APC” – Ganduje Warns Anambra Billionaires
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has urged wealthy individuals in Anambra State not to use their financial influence to create division within the party ahead of the governorship primary scheduled for April 5, 2025.
Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by the support group Booth to Booth with Bola Tinubu, Ganduje assured that the APC would conduct a free, fair, and transparent primary election. He stressed the need for unity among stakeholders and warned against disruptive practices.
“As a party, if we are to have a good primary in the state, all our stakeholders must be ‘born again.’ This time, business should not be as usual. Let us support the system,” Ganduje said.
Acknowledging the financial power of Anambra’s billionaires, he urged them to channel their resources toward the development of the state and the party rather than causing instability. He also suggested that a consensus candidate would be a welcome development, promising recognition for such an effort.
Regarding the mode of the primary election, Ganduje stated that the National Working Committee (NWC) and the party leadership would deliberate and determine the most appropriate method.
Earlier, Iyke Madu, National Coordinator of the Booth to Booth with Bola Tinubu group, appealed to the NWC to adopt an indirect primary due to security concerns in Anambra. He pointed out that the state government had been unable to conduct local government elections because of insecurity, making direct primaries risky.
Madu argued that if the state government could not hold elections in some communities, it would be difficult for the APC, which is not in control of the state, to conduct direct primaries. He urged the party to consider the indirect mode, which is permitted by the APC constitution.
