Dino Melaye Reacts To Tribunal‘s Judgement that Nullified His Victory
The senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Dino Melaye has reacted to the judgement of the Kogi State National Assembly/State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal that nullified his victory at the February 2019 general election.
Melaye in a tweet sent from his Twitter handle on Friday said he will appeal the judgement.
He tweeted, ”On Tribunal judgement. No cause for alarm at all. Even if it went my way they will still go to the Appeal Court. Our mandate can not be taken. We will get judgment at the Appeal Court.
”There will be fresh election in Kogi West because I will be Governor. For my Senate mandate no shaking.”
The tribunal had in a unanimous judgement on Friday by the three-man panel led by Justice A.O Chijioke, voided the election that produced Melaye on the grounds of irregularities, over voting and non-compliance with electoral Act and ordered for a fresh election.
Melaye’s closest challenger and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Smart Adeyemi has filed a petition at the tribunal challenging his victory at the February 2019 National Assembly election.
