Despite Video Evidence, FCT Police Deny Sealing PDP Secretariat, Cite Reason for Heavy Presence
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has denied claims that it sealed off the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja, despite video footage circulating online showing a heavy police presence at the site.
Earlier on Monday, PDP Board of Trustees member and former National Secretary, Ibrahim Tsauri, told journalists that police officers had prevented party officials from entering the Wadata Plaza secretariat to hold a scheduled meeting. Tsauri said officers claimed they were acting on “orders from above” and barred access to the premises.
However, in a statement, FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, described the reports as “false, misleading, and not reflective of the true situation on ground.” Adeh explained that the deployment of police personnel was solely to maintain law and order and ensure public safety, stressing that at no time was the PDP secretariat sealed off.
She urged media outlets to verify information with the command before publication and reiterated the commitment of the police to safeguarding peace and security in the territory.
