Demolition Crisis: Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, Senator Ekwunife Seek Resolution with Governor Sanwo-Olu
In a bid to address the aftermath of the recent demolition of homes in the Abule Ado area of Lagos State by the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Senator Ifeanyi Ubah and Senator Uche Ekwunife, both representing Anambra South Senatorial District, engaged in discussions with Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The meeting, held at the Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, saw the APC members deliberating on peaceful resolutions to address the concerns raised by the FHA’s actions. The primary focus was to engage stakeholders in Abule Ado and the Lagos State Government to thoroughly examine the issue and propose necessary solutions.
Senator Uche Ekwunife, Director-General of the South East Governors Forum, urged South Easterners in the affected area to remain law-abiding. She assured them of her commitment to safeguarding their interests and pledged continued efforts to find a resolution.
Senator Ifeanyi Ubah echoed the call for calm and reassured residents, particularly those of Igbo descent, that he would persist in protecting their interests. He expressed confidence in Governor Sanwo-Olu’s ability to resolve the matter and disclosed that the outcomes of the meeting were communicated to Chief Nwafuribe Chukwudiegwu, the President of the Association of Ndi-Igbo in Abule-Ado Community. The latter is tasked with liaising with all stakeholders and estate leaders for further discussions and actions.
The senators emphasized their consideration of both legal aspects and the economic impact on the affected residents, expressing satisfaction with the peaceful resolutions reached during the discussions.
