Delta Woman Arrested for Allegedly Sex Trafficking 15-Year-Old Daughter

 

 

A woman identified as Eunice Asuelie has been detained by police in Delta State for allegedly forcing her 15-year-old daughter into sex trafficking. The disturbing incident reportedly took place at a hotel in Udu Local Government Area, Delta State, where Asuelie is accused of arranging her daughter’s encounter with a suspected trafficker.

 

Human rights activist Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho revealed that the teenager, referred to as Esther (not her real name), managed to escape and sought shelter with her classmate’s family in Effurun. According to Aghogho, the young girl has since been placed in the care of Margaret Oghuvwu, proprietress of Triumphal Model School, who has provided her with refuge.

 

“We were at the Anti-Trafficking Department of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Asaba, Delta State Police Headquarters, for an interview,” Aghogho told reporters. “This case highlights the serious problem of human trafficking and exploitation in Nigeria, where many are lured by false promises of employment or a better life.”

 

Bright Edafe, spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, confirmed Asuelie’s arrest and stated that investigations are ongoing to identify all individuals involved in the case. “I can confirm that the mother is in detention at the police headquarters, and the police are investigating the whole matter,” Edafe stated
