Deadly Shootout in Delta: Kidnappers Taken Down, Millions in Ransom, Ammo Recovered in Daring Joint Raid (Photos)
A joint security operation in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, has led to the elimination of two suspected kidnappers and the recovery of ransom money and ammunition. The coordinated effort involved personnel from the 63 Brigade Asaba, Divisional Police Headquarters Ogwashi-Uku, Anti-Kidnapping Squad Asaba, and Edo-Ogwashi Security.
The raid, which took place on Wednesday, July 30, was confirmed by human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu, who also shared a video showing the aftermath of the operation, including the neutralised suspects and recovered items.
Authorities reportedly recovered millions of naira, believed to be part of a ransom paid by the families of recent kidnap victims. An AK-47 rifle, three loaded magazines, and 16 rounds of live ammunition were also seized from the hideout.
According to Gwamnishu, the kidnappers had been involved in recent abductions, including the kidnapping of two female students of Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku near Azagba-Ogwashi and the abduction of an estate supervisor at Ubulu-Okiti, who was also shot during the incident.
The operation was supported by tracking intelligence provided by the Delta State Government House in Asaba. Gwamnishu expressed his gratitude to Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the military commanders in Oshimili North and Aniocha South, the DPO of Ogwashi-Uku, and his security team for their swift and coordinated response.
He reiterated the team’s commitment to responding effectively to security threats when credible information is provided.
