EFCC Source: “Olukoyede Did Not Abduct or Force Ojulari to Resign
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has denied claims that its chairman, Ola Olukoyede, abducted and forced Bayo Ojulari, Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, to resign. Contrary to reports published by an online news outlet on Saturday, sources within the EFCC described the allegation as “ridiculous and mischievous.”
The report had claimed Ojulari was detained on Friday and compelled to sign a resignation letter, with alleged involvement from the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Ajayi. However, EFCC sources dismissed the story, stating that Olukoyede has no authority to appoint or remove public officials and therefore no reason to resort to such actions.
“If he needs anyone to account for anything, he does it by writing or inviting the person formally,” a source said. “Whatever does not follow such procedures is not true and should not be taken seriously.”
The EFCC insider further defended Olukoyede’s reputation, saying he is a law-abiding leader who does not engage in coercion. “The EFCC chairman is not a bully. He has never abducted, coerced, tortured or caused anyone to resign his position at any time,” the source added.
