Nvosi, Abia State – In a recent visit to Abia State, Dame Patience Jonathan, the former First Lady of Nigeria, commended the significant transformation of Abia’s streets, noting that they are no longer plagued by foul odors that once plagued the state.
Mrs. Jonathan made these remarks during her visit to the home of Governor Alex Otti in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South LGA. The purpose of her visit was twofold: to congratulate Governor Otti on his electoral victory and to reconnect with her maternal roots in Abia.
During her visit, she reminisced about the state of Abia’s streets before Governor Otti’s administration. She vividly recalled a time when they were marred by filth and a persistent stench. However, she asserted that the new governor had successfully cleared the streets of this foul odor.
Praising Governor Otti for his accomplishments in office, Mrs. Jonathan remarked, “This is my home, and I have come to visit my brother, my governor, in whom I’m well pleased. He’s my mentor. When I was in government, he supported me as a brother. I have come to share experience with him and to tell him congratulations and well done. Abia is our home. Anytime, any day he calls me, I will be there for him. He is doing very, very well. He started well, and I know he will end well. You can see that there is no dirt again in Abia State. You can see all the roadwork going on. You can drive around, and there is no dirt, no smell anywhere, and you can breathe fresh air. That’s why I’m here to tell him congratulations.”
In response, Governor Alex Otti expressed his gratitude for the former First Lady’s visit and for sharing her invaluable government experience. He offered prayers for her and her husband, former President Goodluck Jonathan, wishing them blessings in their endeavors.
The transformation of Abia’s streets and the eradication of unpleasant odors stand as a testament to the progress being made under Governor Otti’s leadership, with Dame Patience Jonathan’s visit serving as a recognition of these achievements.
