Daddy Freeze Reveals Why He Stopped Attending Church

Popular media personality, Ifedayo Olarinde, widely recognized as Daddy Freeze, has recently unveiled the reasons behind his decision to stop attending church. In a candid discussion on the Teju Babyface Deep Dive podcast, Daddy Freeze shared that his departure from church life was prompted by an unfortunate incident following his divorce in 2014.

Before the divorce, Daddy Freeze was an active participant in the church, serving as a church worker and contributing to the organization’s various programs. However, his world took an unexpected turn when the pastor of his church asked him to relocate to the back seats due to his divorced status.

In the podcast, Daddy Freeze explained his perspective, stating, “My marriage had always been troubled, and in 2014, it came to an end. I remember I used to do events in my church. The church minister used to pay me then to do events, which I celebrated. At least, the pastor was not eating all the money; he was sharing with the people who were working.”

The turning point came when he was scheduled for an event for the church and received a call advising him to cancel it due to his divorce or pending divorce drama. Daddy Freeze questioned, “Because I’m going through a divorce, does that remove God from me?”

Subsequently, the pastor visited his home, initiating a conversation that left Daddy Freeze perplexed. The pastor suggested he continue attending church but from the back row. In response, Daddy Freeze contemplated the situation and made the decision to discontinue attending church altogether, rather than “hiding” in the back seats.

This change in his churchgoing routine led him to spend his Sundays studying and delving into scripture. It was during this period of personal reflection and study that Daddy Freeze began to question many of the teachings and practices he had encountered in Nigerian churches. He discovered what he believed to be flaws in the messages preached and embarked on a new path of spiritual exploration from the comfort of his own home.
