Cubana Chief Priest Transfers Cash to Hype Man at Abuja Wedding Following Naira Mutilation Charges
Popular Nigerian socialite and Instagram influencer Pascal Okechukwu, known as Cubana Chief Priest, was observed transferring cash to a hype man at a wedding party in Abuja. This comes just days after his arraignment on three charges by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged naira abuse.
An Instagram story shared by Israel Afeare, logistics manager for the artist Davido, showed Cubana Chief Priest dressed in white native attire. The video depicted him using a mobile transfer app to send money to a hype man as he danced at the wedding. The caption accompanying the video read, “strictly on transfer.”
The video clip also revealed Cubana Chief Priest asking the hype man to confirm receipt of the cash transfer. This shift from the traditional practice of “spraying” naira notes at parties follows Cubana Chief Priest’s recent legal troubles.
The wedding party was hosted at JD Leisure Park, celebrating the union of Maureen and Samuel Adekunle. As of 8:30 p.m., Cubana Chief Priest was still at the party, as reported by attendees.
Cubana Chief Priest’s use of cash transfers instead of spraying naira notes might be influenced by his recent run-in with the law. He was arraigned by the EFCC on charges of naira abuse, with a release on bail set at N10 million. Following his release, the court scheduled a hearing on the preliminary objection for May 2, temporarily pausing the legal proceedings in his case.
The transition to cash transfers instead of physical currency spraying at events reflects the growing awareness and crackdown on naira mutilation, with socialites like Cubana Chief Priest adapting to avoid further legal scrutiny.
