Court rejects motion to declare governor Ayade and deputy’s seat vacant
Justice Taiwo Taiwo has rejected a motion brought before a high court to declare the seat of governor of Cross River, Ben Ayade and his deputy vacant after they both defected to the APC from the PDP.
The court held that such a declaration can only be done using a constitutionally approved process and that the judiciary does not possess such powers as far as governors and their deputies are concerned.
