Congress: Abure Inviting Wrath of the gods — Abia LP Faction Chairman, Otti

 

The Abia State Chairman of the Nenadi Usman-led faction of the Labour Party (LP), Emmanuel Otti, has accused the party’s factional National Chairman, Julius Abure, and his supporters of defying the April 2025 Supreme Court ruling. Otti criticized recent congresses conducted by the Abure-led faction, describing them as a “Kangaroo” exercise that violated the law.

 

Speaking to journalists on Monday at the LP State office in Umuahia, Otti said he had secured an order from the Abia State High Court last week to halt the nationwide LP congress. He expressed dismay that the Abure faction ignored the court order, warning that their actions could “attract the wrath of the gods.”

 

“Remember that in April this year, there was a Supreme Court judgement and that judgement must be followed to the last. So, if you are going contrary to the law of the lands, the gods will hit you. If at all they held any Congress anywhere, it was a Kangaroo exercise,” Otti said.

 

On the welfare of LP members in Abia, Otti dismissed claims that Governor Alex Otti had abandoned party members, saying those who supported the governor’s victory are well accommodated in his administration. He added that a recent sensitisation and evaluation tour across local government areas showed that party members are satisfied with the governor’s performance.

 

Otti concluded by declaring that Governor Otti and the Labour Party are poised to win elections across Abia in 2027, citing the governor’s “unprecedented performance” as a key factor.
