Christian Genocide in Nigeria: Nicki Minaj Speaks at UN Conference

American rap superstar Nicki Minaj has added her voice to international calls for an end to violence targeting Christians in northern Nigeria. Speaking at a United States Mission to the United Nations conference on combating religious violence, the Grammy-winning artist urged global leaders to take action against the ongoing attacks.

“This isn’t about taking sides. This is about standing up in the face of injustice. It’s about what I’ve always stood for,” Minaj said, emphasizing that her message aims to unite humanity rather than fuel divisions.

She also acknowledged the role of President Donald Trump in raising global awareness about the crisis. “I want to thank President Trump for prioritizing this issue and for his leadership on the global stage in calling for urgent action to defend Christians in Nigeria, to combat extremism, and to bring a stop to violence against those who simply want to exercise their natural right to freedom of religion or belief,” she said.

Trump had previously declared Nigeria a country of particular concern due to the mass killings of Christians. He warned that the United States could halt aid and take military action if the Nigerian government failed to address the attacks. “If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the USA will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now-disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities,” he posted on Truth Social.

Nigerian authorities have dismissed claims of religious persecution, highlighting the country’s commitment to faith and diversity. “Like America, Nigeria has no option but to celebrate the diversity that is our greatest strength. Nigeria is a God-fearing country where we respect faith, tolerance, diversity, and inclusion, in concurrence with the rules-based international order,” Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa stated.
