Charly Boy Discloses Past as a Bank Scammer, Thief in Candid Podcast Admission
In a surprising revelation, Nigerian singer Charly Boy confessed to engaging in bank scams even before the notorious 419 fraud became widely known. The candid admission came during a recent interview on the Honest Bunch podcast, where the artist was asked about the most regrettable actions of his past.
“I used to be a thief. I was scamming banks. Even before una begin to hear of 419, I don do small,” Charly Boy disclosed when prompted about his past misdeeds.
Refusing to delve into the specifics of his fraudulent activities, Charly Boy shared that these acts occurred abroad, away from the watchful eyes of his parents.
“Yes, of course. We do not want to get into the how. I just told you the worst thing I have done,” he stated when pressed by podcast host Nedu.
The singer acknowledged the folly of his past behavior, describing it as “stupid and dumb.” He clarified that the illicit activities took place outside Nigeria, where he operated without the supervision of his parents.
“It was not in Nigeria o, I could only do this thing because I was away from my parents’ paying eye. I had nobody to answer to and I wanted to get my own. Though that was not the right way and I don’t advocate that people should…I was just stupid and dumb,” Charly Boy confessed.
Renowned for his alternative lifestyle, political views, and media productions, including The Charly Boy Show, the artist emphasized that Nigeria’s salvation lies in the hands of the youth. Charly Boy has also served as the president of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN).
