Charly Boy Claims Tinubu’s Government Plans to Arrest Peter Obi
Charles Oputa, widely known as Charly Boy, has raised allegations against the Federal Government led by President Bola Tinubu, suggesting that they intend to arrest Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the last election. The claims are centered on Obi’s ongoing critique of the current administration, which, according to Charly Boy, has prompted the government to consider an arrest.
In a statement on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Charly Boy warned that any attempt to arrest or file charges against Peter Obi would be met with significant resistance. He expressed concern that such an action could lead to unrest, stating that the response would be unprecedented in Nigeria’s history. Charly Boy urged the government to act with caution to avoid escalating tensions.
The post reads: “There’s a report of an attempt of arrest on Peter Obi, by Tinubu’s Government over Peter Obi’s consistent refusal to back down on calling Tinubu out towards good governance and accountability. Any arrest or charges against Obi must be met with a resistance as never seen in the history of Nigeria before, and the Obidients are ready for it. Tinubu’s government must tread with caution not to set this nation on fire with an illegal arrest of HE Peter Obi.”
