“Challenge APC With Facts, Not Insults” — Aregbesola Urges ADC Supporters

Former Minister of Interior and interim national secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has called on members of the newly launched party to steer clear of personal attacks and political mudslinging as they prepare to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

In a statement shared via his social media platforms following his return to Lagos on Friday, Aregbesola thanked ADC supporters who welcomed him at the airport and reminded them of the weight of the task ahead. He urged party faithful to resist the temptation to engage in verbal abuse, emphasizing the importance of issue-based politics.

“When others resort to abuse or name-calling, we must rise above it,” Aregbesola said. “Instead, ask them one simple question: Are Nigerians better off today than they were before?”

He encouraged supporters to confront the APC with facts on the state of the economy, highlighting issues such as food inflation, the rising cost of living, and widespread poverty. According to him, the focus must remain on substance, not sensationalism.

“Let our debates remain focused on the issues that matter,” he said. “Articulate our position clearly and confidently. Explain why our new political home, the ADC, represents a credible and necessary alternative for Nigeria’s progress and long-term sustainability.”

Aregbesola’s remarks come amid growing momentum within the ADC as it positions itself as a coalition-driven alternative to President Bola Tinubu’s administration ahead of the 2027 elections.
