Bolt Driver Voluntarily Reports to Police in Rivers Regarding Missing Woman

A Port Harcourt-based Bolt driver, Kelechi Uzor, has voluntarily presented himself to the police in connection with the disappearance of Miss Elizabeth Edoukumor, who was last seen on October 9, 2023.

Uzor, who had dropped off Miss Edoukumor at Harmony Estate in Obio-Akpor local government area of Rivers State, decided to report himself at the Okporo Police Station in Rumuodara, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. He did so in the company of Prince Wiro, a human rights activist, and vehemently denied any involvement in the young lady’s disappearance.

According to Uzor, his decision to contact the authorities was prompted by relentless calls and threats from the missing woman’s family. He expressed a desire to share what he knew about the situation, as Miss Edoukumor was declared missing shortly after he had safely dropped her off at her intended destination.

In an interview, Uzor recounted the events of that day, stating, “On that 9th of October, Elizabeth Edoukumor booked a ride at Eastern bye-pass. I took her to Harmony Estate at Eliozu. When I got to the Estate, I parked because you cannot enter the Estate without authorization of someone inside.”

He further explained, “So when the lady got the permission to enter, I entered the Estate, parked at the residence she was going to while she offloaded her bags because she came with some goods. She paid me in cash and I drove off.”

Uzor also mentioned that he had been contacted by several individuals inquiring about the missing woman’s whereabouts and any information he might have. He clarified that he had no knowledge of her subsequent actions, and that he had not been privy to her conversations during the ride.

It was later revealed that a social media post made by the missing woman’s family indicated that she had called her family members around 6:31 pm on the day of her disappearance, informing them that she was leaving her Aunt’s place in Harmony Estate to return home. However, her phone became unreachable and eventually turned off.

Prince Wiro, who accompanied Uzor to the police station, encouraged the missing woman’s parents or relatives to officially report the case to the police, rather than arranging private meetings with the Bolt driver. Wiro, also the National Coordinator of the Centre for Basic Rights and Accountability Campaign, asserted that Uzor had approached him with a willingness to assist in uncovering the truth behind the disappearance of Miss Edoukumor.

The family of the missing woman posted a plea for assistance on Facebook, sharing details about her last known location and appearance, along with a contact number for anyone with information. They urgently seek any information that can help locate Miss Elizabeth Edoukumor.
